24 Hours in Las Vegas: A Layover & One-Day Guide
A single day, or even a long layover, is enough to see the heart of Las Vegas if you plan it tightly. This one-day route hits the Strip's highlights, fits in a show, and ends on Fremont Street.
With the airport only about 2 miles from the south Strip, even a long layover is enough for a taste of Vegas.
Morning / afternoon - the center Strip
Base yourself around the center Strip and walk the icons: Bellagio (and its fountains), Caesars Palace, The Cosmopolitan. Cross efficiently using the Monorail and free trams - see getting around.
Evening - one big thing
Pick one marquee experience: a show, a concert, or the immersive Sphere. Book ahead so a sell-out doesn't derail the plan.
Night - Fremont Street
If you still have energy, taxi to Downtown / Fremont Street for the light show and old-school casinos.
Layover tips
- Aim for 6+ hours between flights before leaving the airport.
- Travel light. The airport has no luggage storage; paid bag-storage services operate nearby.
