With a history as grand as its theme, Caesars Palace has reigned over the center of the Strip for decades. The Greco-Roman opulence is everywhere, from the statuary to the meandering, easy-to-get-lost-in layout, and the line-up is hard to beat: the Colosseum hosts marquee residencies, the Garden of the Gods is one of the Strip's best pool complexes, and the dining roster runs from Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen to Nobu and the famous Bacchanal Buffet.

Rooms span several towers that vary considerably in age and style, so it pays to check which one you're booked into — some are a long walk from the lobby. For a classic, full-throttle Vegas experience in a prime location, rates start around $89 a night before fees.

Know before you go: the resort fee is $55 plus tax (about $62 a night), and hotel guests pay $20 a day to self-park — only Nevada locals park free, and only for the first three hours. The location is as central as the Strip gets, directly across from the Bellagio fountains and attached to the Forum Shops, but the resort itself is enormous — allow 10–15 minutes to walk from the farthest tower elevators to the Strip sidewalk. Without a car, the Flamingo/Caesars Palace monorail station sits across the Boulevard (take the pedestrian bridge at the Flamingo), and the 24-hour Deuce bus stops right out front.
