Boulder Station is the kind of all-in-one locals' resort where you barely need to leave: a sizeable casino, an 11-screen cinema, the Railhead live-music showroom, a food court and several restaurants all sit under one roof. The rooms are comfortable and affordable, and the whole place has a welcoming, repeat-visitor feel.

It's about five miles and 15 minutes from the Strip on Boulder Highway, so it suits travelers with a car who want locals' value over a Boulevard address. Free self-parking is a given, and Kids Quest child care makes it an easy pick for families.

Insider tipTraveling as three or four? Book the Standard Two Queen rather than the Standard King — both are the same 360 square feet, but the king room caps at two guests while the queen room sleeps four.

This 360-square-foot room has two queen beds with pillow-top mattresses and triple sheeting. This 360-square-foot room has one king bed with a pillow-top mattress and triple sheeting — the same clean, earthy-toned look as the queen rooms, with custom Greg Miller artwork, a 40-inch flat-screen TV, a computer desk and a built-in closet. The private bathroom has a combined tub/shower and a granite-topped vanity.

No. Boulder Station has an 11-screen movie theater and the Railhead live-music showroom, but no bowling alley — you may be thinking of Sam's Town, another locals' casino a few miles down Boulder Highway.

How far is Boulder Station from the Strip?

About five miles, a roughly 15-minute drive along Boulder Highway. The closest big Strip attractions — the High Roller and the Venetian's gondolas — are just under five miles away. There's no hotel shuttle to the Strip or the airport, so plan on a car or rideshare; self-parking at the resort is free.

What is the resort fee at Boulder Station?

$30 plus tax per night. It covers Wi-Fi, the fitness room, the outdoor pool and local and long-distance calls. Self-parking is free and sits outside the fee, so the resort fee is the only mandatory add-on.
