Golden Gate Hotel and Casino Las Vegas: Honest Review, Rooms & Rates
The Golden Gate is a genuine piece of living history — the oldest hotel in Las Vegas, open since 1906, and famous as the birthplace of the bargain shrimp cocktail. It was even assigned the city's very first telephone number (1), and briefly went by 'Sal Sagev' (Las Vegas backwards) before taking its current name in 1955.
With only around 120 rooms it's intimate and characterful, with signature touches like its 'dancing dealers' on the casino floor. It anchors a corner of the Fremont Street Experience, so the downtown action is right outside. For vintage charm at a bargain price, rates start around $24 a night.
