The Golden Gate is a genuine piece of living history — the oldest hotel in Las Vegas, open since 1906, and famous as the birthplace of the bargain shrimp cocktail. It was even assigned the city's very first telephone number (1), and carried the name 'Sal Sagev' (Las Vegas backwards) from 1931 until it took its current name in 1955.

With only around 120 rooms it's intimate and characterful, with signature touches like its 'dancing dealers' on the casino floor, and it anchors a corner of the Fremont Street Experience so downtown is right outside. One honest caveat: it has no restaurant of its own — the Du-par's diner that served the legendary shrimp cocktail closed in 2017, and that Original Shrimp Cocktail now lives at sister-property Circa a block away, where Golden Gate guests also get free access to the Stadium Swim pool. For vintage charm and an unbeatable location, it's one of downtown's best-value throwbacks.

Golden Gate Suite

This contemporary suite measures approximately 500 square feet and has a California king bed with a pillow-top mattress, plus a sectional sofa with a pull-out queen bed. Decorated in an art-deco theme with eye-catching vintage artwork, it includes a 50-inch flat-panel TV, a comfortable work space, a hair dryer and an in-room safe.
