Hampton Inn - Tropicana

A comfortable, non-gaming Hampton Inn just off the south Strip on Dean Martin Drive, with a free hot breakfast, a heated pool, an evening lobby bar and no resort fee — plus free airport and Strip shuttles. The honest catch: self-parking in the garage is a paid extra, not free.

Is the Hampton Inn Tropicana Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

The Hampton Inn Tropicana pairs the brand's dependable, no-surprises comfort with a spot just off the south Strip on Dean Martin Drive — roughly a mile from the casinos and only about a mile and a half from Harry Reid International Airport. Rooms are modern and roomy, a free hot breakfast is served every morning, an evening lobby bar handles the nightcaps, and there's a heated outdoor pool with a whirlpool. It's a non-gaming, 100% non-smoking hotel built for families, sports fans and value-minded travelers rather than gamblers.

Its biggest edge over a Strip casino hotel is that there's no resort fee, so the nightly rate stays close to what you actually pay — and a free roundtrip airport shuttle plus a complimentary drop-off shuttle to the south Strip mean you may not need a car at all. The trade-offs are honest ones. The hotel sits on the far side of I-15 from the Boulevard, so despite being close as the crow flies, walking across means a detour and most guests drive, rideshare or take the shuttle. There's no casino, no full restaurant and no room service. And, unusually for an off-Strip Hampton, self-parking in the covered garage is a paid extra — recently around $15 to $21 a night — rather than free. For events, though, it's a genuine find: you can walk to T-Mobile Arena and you're only minutes from Allegiant Stadium.

Insider tipWith no full restaurant and no room service on-site, request the "2 Queen Beds with Microwave & Fridge" layout — it's the room that actually includes an in-room fridge and microwave (most here don't), so you can chill drinks and stash takeout or breakfast leftovers between the free morning buffet and the evening lobby bar.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Hampton Inn Tropicana charge a resort fee?

No — there's no resort fee, so the nightly rate you book stays close to what you actually pay (only Nevada room tax is added on top). That's a genuine saving versus the mandatory daily resort fees charged at most Strip casino hotels.

Is parking free at the Hampton Inn Tropicana?

No — and that's unusual for an off-Strip Hampton. Self-parking is in a covered garage for a nightly fee, but it does include in/out privileges, so you can come and go through the day without paying again. There's no free lot, so build it into your budget.

Can you walk to the Strip from the hotel?

Not easily. Although it's only about a mile away, the hotel sits on the far side of I-15 from Las Vegas Boulevard, so crossing on foot means a real detour — most guests drive, rideshare or take the free hotel shuttle instead. You can, however, walk to T-Mobile Arena.

Is there a restaurant at the hotel?

There's no full-service restaurant and no room service. You do get a free hot breakfast buffet each morning, an evening lobby bar, a grab-and-go pantry and 24-hour coffee. For a proper dinner, CityCenter and the Shops at Crystals are about a half-mile away.

Is there a free airport shuttle, and how does it run?

Yes — a free roundtrip shuttle serves Harry Reid International, which is only about 1.5 miles away, running roughly 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily. If your flight lands or leaves outside that window, plan a quick rideshare. The separate south-Strip shuttle drops off only, so arrange your own ride back.
