Is M Resort Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

M Resort is the polished off-Strip alternative at the far southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard - an upscale casino hotel run by PENN Entertainment that sits on a low hilltop in Henderson, at the corner of St. Rose Parkway. That elevated 90-acre site is the whole point: floor-to-ceiling windows give many rooms a genuine view back over the valley toward the Strip, and the property carries a AAA Four Diamond rating it has held since 2010.

It punches above its size on food and comfort. The dining lineup was rebuilt around the resort's role as the Official Team Headquarters Hotel of the Las Vegas Raiders: Emeril Lagasse's Meril, the Raiders Tavern & Grill, Anthony's Prime Steak & Seafood (whose Sunday brunch piles on lobster and prime rib), and Marinelli's for Italian, plus Vig Deli and Baby Cakes for coffee and pastries. Add a full-service spa, two seasonal pools (including the 21+ DayDream Pool Club), a rebuilt casino floor and a race and sports book, and it works as a self-contained base.

The honest trade-off is location. M Resort is about twelve miles south of the central Strip, so you'll want a car and you won't be walking to Bellagio - this is a quiet, residential corner near Southern Highlands, not the neon core. A resort fee applies, but self-parking and valet are both free, and for the money you get more space, more calm and a true four-diamond product well below Strip-flagship rates.

How far is M Resort from the Strip and the airport?

About twelve miles south of the center Strip - a 15-to-20-minute drive to the Mandalay Bay end, and there's no Strip shuttle. The flip side is that Harry Reid International Airport is about 10 miles away - a 15- to 20-minute drive, with a free scheduled shuttle included in the resort fee, which makes M Resort an easy first- or last-night base if you're flying in late or out early.

Do you need a car to stay at M Resort?

Practically, yes. It's twelve miles off the Strip with no Strip shuttle, so you'll rely on a car or rideshare for the Strip (the resort fee does include a free scheduled airport shuttle, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. by reservation), and rideshare fares to and from the Strip add up over a few days. If you're driving to Las Vegas or renting a car anyway, the free self-parking and valet make it painless; if you plan to spend every night on the Strip without a car, an on-Strip hotel will suit you better.

Is M Resort worth staying at instead of a Strip hotel?

It depends on your trip. For the money you get more space, a quieter room, a true AAA Four-Diamond product and free parking - a strong deal if you have a car and value calm. Yes - two of them. M Pool is the relaxed all-ages resort pool with cabanas and a poolside bar; next to it, DayDream Pool Club is a 21+ dayclub with an infinity-edge pool, an ice-railed bar and weekend DJs. Both are seasonal. Like most Las Vegas pools it's seasonal, at its best from spring through early fall and typically closed in the coldest winter months.
