Is Main Street Station Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

Main Street Station is a delight for history buffs — a Victorian-themed hotel and casino dotted with genuine antiques and artifacts, from ornate woodwork and stained glass to a section of the actual Berlin Wall. It's full of character in a way few budget hotels are.

The on-site Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery pours fresh, cheap house beers, the Garden Court Buffet is the last buffet left in downtown Las Vegas, and the rooms are comfortable and exceptionally well-priced. Steps from Fremont Street with free self-parking, it's one of the best-value stays in the city, from around $30 a night.

Budget for the resort fee — $32.99 plus tax, $37.28 a night all-in — though it covers more than most: in-room Wi-Fi for up to three devices, self-parking in the hotel's four-story garage, and pool and gym privileges at the neighboring California Hotel & Casino. There's no pool or fitness room in the building itself; an enclosed walkway over Main Street connects to the California, whose seasonal rooftop pool fills the gap. The Fremont Street Experience is about a five-minute walk away, while the Strip is roughly 4.5 miles south — the Deuce bus runs there 24/7 from downtown, or it's about a 15-minute drive outside peak traffic.
