Is Oasis at Gold Spike Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates
Oasis at Gold Spike is a retro, budget-friendly downtown hotel wrapped around the Gold Spike, one of Fremont's most popular nightlife-and-games venues. It is best known as a young, social, party-adjacent base rather than a polished resort: the rooms are simple and no-frills, there is no casino, and most of the energy comes from the bar scene next door. The age policy is split — the Gold Spike Tower rooms (Gold Spike Queen and Double Queen) sit directly above the venue and are strictly 21+, while the quieter poolside rooms welcome families with children.
Next door, the Gold Spike's 20,000-square-foot indoor-outdoor space packs in oversized lawn games — cornhole, giant Jenga, beer pong, shuffleboard — plus live music and DJs in The Backyard, and craft cocktails, community tables and a well-known Bloody Mary in The Living Room. A retro outdoor pool (open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.), a 24/7 fitness center, free Wi-Fi and complimentary self-parking round out the practical side, and the Fremont Street Experience is about a five-minute walk away.
Be clear-eyed about the trade-offs: this is a no-frills property with no casino and no full-service restaurant, and the Gold Spike Tower rooms sit right above a busy bar, so light sleepers should book a poolside room or bring earplugs on weekends. There is a $20-per-night amenity fee (it does at least cover parking, pool and Wi-Fi), a refundable $100 incidental hold at check-in, and the Strip is roughly four miles away — a short rideshare rather than a walk.
Insider tipComplimentary parking isn't automatic: at check-in, give the front desk your license plate and car description to get the parking pass, or you risk being ticketed in the lot. It's covered by the amenity fee, so there's no separate charge.Check Rates & Availability →
