OYO Hotel & Casino is a 657-room budget casino hotel at 115 E Tropicana Avenue, one short block east of the Strip and directly across Tropicana Avenue from the MGM Grand. The 19-story tower spent years as Hooters Casino Hotel before India-based OYO took over the flag in 2019, and it now competes on a single proposition: some of the lowest room rates anywhere within a five-minute walk of a Strip corner, with a real 24-hour casino downstairs.

The casino covers about 30,000 square feet with more than 340 slot and video poker machines and roughly 20 table games; blackjack starts at $5 and pays full 3:2, and a William Hill sportsbook handles daily lines and futures. Food is strictly casual: a 24-hour Steak 'n Shake, the Southside Retail Shop & Cafe pouring coffee and selling grab-and-go from 6 a.m., Splash Cantina out by the pool, and The Underground Lounge off the casino floor. Two outdoor pools open seasonally, and a 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes is covered by the resort fee, as is in-room Wi-Fi. Renovated standard rooms run 350-370 square feet; dogs are accepted in designated rooms for a fee.

The catch is the math and the building. On quiet weeknights the mandatory resort fee can cost more than the room itself, self-parking is charged nightly on top, and standard rooms skip the refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker unless you book a Premium category. This is an aging tower that was rebranded rather than rebuilt — expect worn corridors, noise carrying between rooms and from Tropicana Avenue, and cigarette smoke drifting through the 24-hour casino. The Athletics' ballpark is also rising on the former Tropicana site next door, so construction activity around the block is a fact of life into 2028. If you just need a clean bed near the south Strip and plan to be out all day, the all-in nightly cost still undercuts nearly everything across the street — just add the fees before you compare.
