Is South Point Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

South Point is the biggest locals' resort at the south end of the Boulevard — a genuinely self-contained world owned and run by Vegas veteran Michael Gaughan. It's not fancy, but it's huge, friendly and cheap, with oversized rooms that live more like mini-suites (50-inch 4K TVs, plush Serta beds) at a fraction of a Strip rate.

The draw is everything under one roof: a 64-lane bowling center, a 16-screen Century cinema, a 400-seat showroom, a full spa and eleven restaurants from a classic gourmet room to a 24-hour cafe. It even has a 4,600-seat equestrian arena that hosts rodeos and horse shows year-round. Free self-parking and valet, plus a free scheduled airport shuttle, take the sting out of the location.

The honest trade-off is distance: it's about eight miles south of the central Strip, so you'll want a car (or the shuttle) and you're not walking to Bellagio. But for value, space and a locals' vibe with almost nothing you'd need to leave for, few places on this list compete.
