Is the Suncoast Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

The Suncoast is built for travelers who want the comforts of a resort without the relentless energy of the Strip. Set in the leafy Summerlin area on the northwest side of town, it has a calm, family-friendly feel and overlooks the Angel Park golf course, with mountain views beyond.

On-site there's a 64-lane bowling center, a 16-screen cinema and a good range of dining — including one of the last off-Strip buffets still standing (St. Tropez) — plenty to fill a family trip. It's about seven miles from the Strip and close to Red Rock Canyon, so a car is handy. Comfortable, well-priced and with free self-parking, it's a relaxed Summerlin base.

Insider tipDon't plan on eating every meal in-house — Tivoli Village, Boca Park and Rampart Commons, three shopping-and-dining centers with plenty of restaurants, all sit a few minutes' drive away, which makes the Suncoast an easy base for a longer Summerlin stay.

The resort fee is $41.80 a night including tax, and it bundles in-room Wi-Fi, the 24-hour fitness center and pool access. Garage self-parking stays free on top of it, and valet is available if you'd rather not walk in from the lot.

How far is the Suncoast from the Strip and the airport?

The Strip is about 7 miles east — roughly a 15-to-20-minute drive — while Red Rock Canyon is a short hop west. Harry Reid airport sits on the far south side of the valley, a longer haul, and there's no airport or Strip shuttle, so a rental or rideshare is worth budgeting for.

What are the rooms like at the Suncoast?

Standard rooms are a roomy 550 square feet with full-length windows, a refrigerator and a single-serve coffeemaker; Executive suites pass 1,000 square feet and add a separate living area. Ask for a golf-view room — it looks over the Angel Park course to the mountains.
