Sunset Station brings a polished, resort-style feel to Henderson, built primarily for locals but also a comfortable, affordable option for leisure and business travelers. The casino is large and lively, and there's plenty to do on-site — a 13-screen cinema with IMAX, bowling, an outdoor amphitheater and a range of restaurants.

The location is handy for non-Strip plans: it sits across from the Galleria at Sunset mall and outlet shopping, and the Ethel M Chocolate Factory is a short drive away. About eight miles from the Strip, it suits travelers with a car, and self-parking is free. Rates start around $56 a night.

Budget for the resort fee — $40 plus tax, about $46 all-in per night — which covers Wi-Fi, fitness center and pool access.
