Area15's new 'Eye Dropper' drop tower opens — a 200-foot psychedelic thrill ride

A story-driven reinvention of the classic drop tower, hitting 36 mph and brief weightlessness just off the Strip.

Area15 added a genuine thrill ride on June 23: Eye Dropper, a 200-foot tower that reinvents the standard space-shot/drop-tower as a "story-driven," trippy sensory experience rather than a plain plunge. It fires you up and drops you back down at up to 36 mph, swinging from about 4 Gs of force to a moment of near-weightlessness at the top.

It's the first big outdoor attraction at the complex, which until now leaned on indoor immersive art, bars and the Museum of Ice Cream opening next door. Together they turn Area15 from a two-hour stop into a genuine half-day off the Strip — useful when the afternoon heat makes the pool the only other option.

Height and health restrictions apply, as with any drop tower, so check before you queue if you're traveling with younger kids.

Our take: a 200-foot drop is real but not Strat-Big-Shot extreme, so it's a solid intro thrill — good for teens and nervous first-timers, a warm-up for anyone chasing the tower rides at The STRAT. Pair it with the Museum of Ice Cream in one Area15 trip rather than making a special drive for the ride alone.
