Alexis Park is one of the few true non-gaming resorts in Las Vegas: 496 suites spread across two-story garden buildings on 19 acres of East Harmon Avenue, about a mile east of the Strip and directly across from Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Opened in 1984, it runs on a different logic than the casino resorts — the room is the product, so there is no gaming floor and no slot noise in the lobby, and every unit is a suite with a separate sleeping area and a kitchenette. That combination of space and quiet at budget prices is the whole pitch.

All 496 units come with a pull-out sofa, a kitchenette-dinette corner with a microwave, mini-fridge and coffee maker, and layouts run from studio suites up to a 1,275-square-foot two-story, two-bedroom unit; the split-level Crown Loft suites are a distinctive holdover of the original design. Three outdoor pools sit in landscaped courtyards with rentable cabanas, a fitness center is covered by the resort fee, and about 50,000 square feet of meeting space keeps the property busy with conventions and fan events. Dining is modest but on site: the Steakhouse at Alexis Gardens serves dinner nightly, Alexis Gardens handles breakfast and lunch Thursday through Sunday, and Pegasus Bar pours in the lobby. Self-parking is free.

The trade-offs are real. The $37.42-a-night resort fee can rival the room rate itself on cheap dates, the two-story 1984-vintage buildings have no elevators, and despite periodic renovations parts of the property still read dated motel rather than resort. There is no shuttle, breakfast does not exist Monday through Wednesday, and the walk to the Strip is a hot 20 minutes, so most guests rely on a car or rideshare — parking, at least, costs nothing. Travelers after casino energy should look elsewhere; those who want a quiet, dog-friendly suite with a kitchenette near the Strip for less than a Strip hotel room will find Alexis Park one of the better value plays off the Boulevard.

Monarch Double Double Suite

Two Story Crown Loft Suite

A 675-square-foot split-level suite with the bedroom upstairs in a loft and the living area below — a holdover of the property's 1984 design and still its most distinctive layout. Downstairs holds the sofa bed, dining area and kitchenette; there is no elevator, so the internal staircase is part of the deal.
