Open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight, free to enter, in the Showcase Mall next to MGM Grand. Worth 30 to 60 minutes if you have kids or a sweet tooth; otherwise it is a very large candy shop.

What is there

  • Four floors and about 28,000 square feet; it was the first M&M's store anywhere when it opened in October 1997
  • The color wall, roughly 22 colors sold by weight, which adds up faster than you expect
  • Personalized M&M's printed in a couple of minutes
  • Free photos with the mascots, and a NASCAR show car on the top floor with a Strip view

The small upstairs theater that older guides promise a free 3D movie in is not something to plan around; check on arrival whether anything is running.

Practical

  • Where: the standalone Showcase Mall at Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard, next to MGM Grand rather than inside it.
  • When: midday is wall-to-wall families; early morning or after dinner is calm. Holidays and private events can shift the hours.
  • Parking: none of its own; use the paid MGM Grand garage next door.

Make it a loop: the Coca-Cola Store is in the same mall, and the Hershey's store with its chocolate Statue of Liberty is across the street inside New York-New York.
