What is the best time of year to visit Las Vegas?
1 answer
Mid-March to mid-April and mid-October to mid-November for the weather; summer or the quiet January midweeks for the price. Whatever the month, check your dates against the event calendar, which moves prices more than the season does.
For the weather
April averages a 79°F high and 57°F low, October 81°F and 60°F: warm enough for a pool, cool enough to walk the Strip at noon, a light jacket at night. Everyone knows it, though. October 2025 had the highest average room rate of any month that year ($220 on the Strip) and 92.7% weekend occupancy.
For the price
- Summer: the cheapest base rates and the harshest weather. July averages a 104°F high, has hit 120°F, and makes midday outdoor plans genuinely risky. It is pool and dayclub season, and a Tuesday room can cost a third of an October Saturday.
- January: cheap only between conventions. January 11 to 14 and 26 to 28 are the bargains; CES week (January 6 to 9, 2027) is not.
- December 13 to 23: the cheapest stretch of the year on the Strip.
Dates to avoid unless you are going to them
F1 (November 19 to 21, 2026), the National Finals Rodeo (December 3 to 12), CES and the big fight weekends can double or triple a room.
