Ethel M is the Mars family's premium chocolate brand, and its Henderson flagship pairs a free self-guided factory viewing aisle with a three-acre Botanical Cactus Garden of 300-plus desert plant species, which Ethel M calls the largest cactus garden in Nevada. Both are open to the public year-round at no charge. The catch on the chocolate side is timing: chocolatiers work the line Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 3:30 PM, so a weekend or evening visit means staring at idle kettles. A free sample is a long tradition here but not a guarantee - enjoy it if offered, don't plan around it.

Size your expectations. This is a 30-to-45-minute stop (viewing aisle, shop, garden loop) about 11 miles southeast of the Strip, so it needs a car and works best chained with other Henderson stops. And a correction to the common myth: the beloved winter Holiday Cactus Garden Lights are not free. Ethel M charges entry for its seasonal events, holiday and Valentine's alike, and sends the proceeds to local charities; last season the gate was $3 per person, with 65-plus and under-2 free and a free opening night. The 2026–27 run is set for November 5, 2026 through January 3, 2027, nightly 5 to 10 PM, closed Christmas Day and cut to 5 to 8 PM on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. This season's exact ticket price still wasn't posted as of early September 2026. The daytime garden stays free the rest of the year, and so does parking.
