Gondola Ride at the Venetian

The Gondola Ride at The Venetian is the Strip's signature piece of Venice: a gondolier in a striped shirt poles you along the resort's Grand Canal while singing, past arched bridges, frescoed ceilings and the storefronts of the Grand Canal Shoppes. It has been the go-to romantic photo-op in Las Vegas for over two decades, and it is exactly as kitschy — and exactly as charming — as it sounds.

There are two routes. The indoor canal winds through the Shoppes beneath a painted twilight sky, is climate-controlled, and runs in any weather — Sunday through Thursday 10 AM to 11 PM, until midnight Friday and Saturday. The outdoor route floats the lagoon in front of the resort under the real sky, daily 10 AM to 10 PM, seasonal and weather-permitting; if weather pauses it, outdoor tickets are honored indoors at no charge. Rides last about 10 to 13 minutes. A shared gondola seats up to four at $39 per person (any age), and a private boat for two runs $156. Book online up to 60 days ahead, or same-day in person at Emporio d'Gondola on Level 2 of the Shoppes or the outdoor booth near Doge's Palace.

Go in clear-eyed: the ride is short for the money, the indoor canal is effectively a boat lane through a busy mall — shoppers line the railings and photograph you the whole way — and same-day tickets are first-come, so evening and weekend waits build fast. A couple pays $78 on a shared boat but may still ride with strangers; if romance is the point, the private gondola is the version people remember. For first-timers, families and anyone proposing, it earns its place on the Vegas bucket list.
