Fremont Street Experience

Fremont Street Experience is five blocks of downtown Las Vegas closed to traffic and roofed by Viva Vision, the world's largest single video screen. After dark the canopy erupts into a music-synced light show at the top of every hour, and it's all free — no ticket, no cover charge, even when the Downtown Rocks series books name acts for its three stages in summer. Between shows you get free live bands, the SlotZilla zip line whistling overhead, and the vintage neon of the Golden Nugget and Binion's at eye level.

Be honest about what you're walking into: this is a loud, packed, drink-in-hand street party, not a stroll. Costumed characters and showgirls pose for tips (they're freelancers, not staff), weekend nights get shoulder to shoulder, and past midnight the crowd runs sloppy. The alcohol rules cut both ways — you can carry a drink anywhere under the canopy as long as a bar or casino in the district poured it into a plastic cup, while store-bought cans and anything glass are banned. A weeknight around 8pm hits the sweet spot: full canopy spectacle, working neon, and enough room to actually stop and look up.
