Lee Canyon, the resort formerly branded Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard, is the improbable truth that you can ski 45 minutes from the Strip. Perched at 8,660 feet in the Spring Mountains (established 1963, renamed back to Lee Canyon in 2016), it runs about 30 trails and four lifts through a genuine snow season, with demand-priced winter lift tickets that start low on quiet weekdays and climb steeply on powder days and holidays. Every advance online ticket adds a $10 on-mountain credit and beats the walk-up window rate. Kids 12 and under ski and ride free with the Power Kids pass, and every ticket includes parking.

Summer is the other half of the story. From late May the mountain flips to lift-served downhill biking, the Bristlecone Skyway scenic chairlift to 9,370 feet (with 2026's new High Pines ride-up, hike-down trail), disc golf and a summer concert series, all in air 20-plus degrees cooler than the valley. Be honest about scale: this is a charming local hill, not Tahoe. Modest vertical, weather-dependent terrain and a day lodge rather than a village, and winter storms can put chain requirements on the mountain road while powder-day lots fill by mid-morning. As a novelty ("I skied Las Vegas") and a summer escape, it earns the drive.
