Is SlotZilla Worth It? Fremont Street's Zipline, Honestly

SlotZilla is the zipline that turned downtown's pedestrian mall into a flight path: an 11-story slot-machine-themed tower at the east end of the Fremont Street Experience launches riders out over the crowd, directly beneath the Viva Vision LED canopy. There are two tiers. The lower Zipline sends you off seated and covers about half the street, while the upper Zoomline shoots you out prone, superhero-style, and runs the full length of the canopy before landing near the Golden Gate end.

The honest math: you'll spend far longer checking in, harnessing up, and riding elevators than actually flying — the flight itself lasts under a minute — and weekend-night waits can stretch long, so this is one of the priciest minutes in Las Vegas. It's still worth one ride, at night, on the Zoomline. Flying face-down under a lit canopy with a crowd of thousands below you is a specifically Vegas sensation no observation wheel matches; the seated lower line ends mid-street and feels tame by comparison.

Which is better, the SlotZilla Zipline or the Zoomline?

The Zoomline, unless heights genuinely worry you. It flies higher, more than twice as far, and prone — you see the whole canopy scroll past under your face before landing near the Golden Gate end. The seated Zipline stops mid-street near Four Queens, so you walk the second half of Fremont anyway.

How fast does SlotZilla go?

The upper Zoomline reaches roughly 35 mph, which puts the full five-block run at well under a minute of flight time. The lower seated line is slower and shorter — closer to a gentle glide than a plunge.

Is SlotZilla scary for first-timers?

Less than it looks. You're launched horizontally over a busy street rather than dropped over a canyon, and the seated lower line in particular is a mild introduction. The prone Zoomline launch feels more committing for the first few seconds, then the view takes over.

Can you ride SlotZilla during the day?

Yes — flights start at midday every day, and daytime usually means shorter lines and clearer views of the street below. The trade-off is that the overhead Viva Vision screen, the thing that makes this zipline famous, only runs its shows after dark.

Where do you check in for SlotZilla?

At the box office at the base of the tower on the east end of the canopy (425 Fremont St). It opens at 11:30 AM, half an hour before the first flights — showing up near opening on a weekday is the shortest wait you'll find.
