Inside Troy Liquor Bar at Golden Nugget

Troy Liquor Bar is downtown's only real nightclub-format room on Fremont Street — a 4,800-square-foot second-story club at the Golden Nugget with an LED ceiling, a dance floor, VIP booths, gaming tables, and the trump card: an outdoor deck hanging directly over the Fremont Street Experience, with the Viva Vision canopy show running overhead for free.

It opened in late 2019 in the space that used to be Gold Diggers, and runs a four-night week — Thursday through Sunday from 9pm, until 3am early nights and 4am on Friday and Saturday. The sound is rotating open format: Top 40, hip-hop, EDM, and Latin depending on the DJ, pitched at Fremont's mixed crowd rather than any one scene.

Scale your expectations to downtown: it's a fraction of a Strip megaclub's size, weeknights can run quiet, and the door is strict out of proportion to the room — no white tees, no athletic wear, and no visible neck or face tattoos, which catches people off guard. The free guest list closes unusually early at 8:15pm; after that, cover varies with the night.

Insider tipThe guest list cutoff is 8:15pm — far earlier than Strip clubs — so sign up in the afternoon. And check your outfit twice: white tees, athletic wear, and visible neck or face tattoos all get bounced here.

Frequently asked questions

What nights is Troy Liquor Bar open?

Thursday through Sunday from 9pm — until 3am on Thursday and Sunday, 4am on Friday and Saturday. Friday and Saturday are the real nights; early-week it can run quiet.

How much is the cover?

It varies by night and event. The free guest list is the play, but it closes at 8:15pm — and a door cover can still apply on busy nights even for list names.

What is the dress code?

Unusually strict for downtown: no white T-shirts, no athletic or sportswear, no sneakers on busy nights, and no visible neck, face, or head tattoos. Collared shirt and dark shoes keep it simple.

What's the outdoor deck?

A second-story balcony directly over Fremont Street — you watch the Viva Vision canopy show and the crowd below with a drink in hand. It's the best feature of the club and free with entry.

What music does Troy play?

Rotating open format — Top 40, hip-hop, EDM, and Latin sets depending on the DJ booked. No fixed residents; the room follows Fremont's mixed crowd.
