On most gaming floors, yes, and vaping too. Nevada's indoor smoking ban exempts the gaming areas, and most Strip casinos use the exemption. Park MGM is the one Strip resort that is smoke-free throughout.

Where smoking is allowed

The Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act bans smoking in restaurants, shops, indoor workplaces and the non-gaming parts of a casino, but exempts the gaming floor itself, for cigarettes and vapes alike. You will smell it the moment you walk in, and a cocktail server will bring an ashtray to your machine.

Where it is not

  • Park MGM: smoke-free and vape-free everywhere, including the casino floor and the NoMad tower, with designated outdoor spots.
  • Non-smoking sections: poker rooms almost everywhere, plus some sportsbooks and slot zones. Downtown, the Plaza has a smoke-free slot area.
  • Off the floor: casino restaurants, the shopping arcades and theaters. Stand-alone bars that admit no one under 21 may allow it; bars inside restaurants may not.
  • Hotel rooms: non-smoking at most resorts, with cleaning fees of several hundred dollars charged to the card for anyone who lights up, and the same for vaping. The big groups keep a few smoking rooms on request.

Cannabis

Legal in Nevada, illegal in every casino, hotel room, sidewalk and car. The only lawful places to use it are a private residence and the licensed consumption lounges that have opened since 2024. Lighting up on a casino floor gets you removed, and the dispensaries will tell you the same at the counter.

If smoke is a deal-breaker, book Park MGM or a non-casino hotel, and anywhere else ask for a higher floor away from the elevators. The rest of the first-trip rules are in first time in Las Vegas.
