$5.50 a ride or $13.45 for 24 hours when you buy online, a dollar or two more at the station machines. Worth it if you are staying on the east side of the Strip and crossing it more than once a day; a poor deal from the west side.

Fares at our last check

  • Single ride: $5.50 online, $6 at the station
  • 24-hour pass: $13.45 online, $15 at the station
  • 2-day pass: about $26; 3-day: about $32; 7-day: about $62
  • Nevada residents: $1 a ride with a state ID at the station booth

When it pays off

  • Your hotel is on the east side: MGM Grand, Paris, Flamingo, Harrah's, The LINQ, Westgate or Sahara.
  • You move between the two ends of the Strip more than once a day.
  • A show or stadium night has the Boulevard gridlocked. A 24-hour pass costs about two rideshares.

When it does not

From a west-side hotel every trip starts with a ten-minute walk to the back of a casino, and it does nothing for Downtown or the airport.

The free alternatives cover a lot of the same ground: the Mandalay Bay to Excalibur tram and the Bellagio to Park MGM tram are free, and the center Strip is walkable in 5 to 20 minute hops. The Deuce bus is $8 for 24 hours and goes Downtown too, slowly. More in getting around Las Vegas; stations and hours in where the Monorail goes.
