Black Canyon Kayak Tour

The Black Canyon Kayak Tour is a guided half-day paddle on the Colorado River just below Hoover Dam, threading the sheer volcanic walls of Black Canyon on flatwater that stays calm and beginner-friendly. No paddling experience is needed, and guides run a short briefing before you launch.

Over roughly three hours on the water, small groups follow the river past hot-spring seeps and desert cliffs to Emerald Cove, a slot in the rock where sunlight turns the water bright green. Guides point out desert bighorn sheep on the ledges and, less often, herons or a bald eagle overhead. Kayak, paddle, life vest, snacks and bottled water are provided.

The trade-offs are real. This listing does not include a Strip shuttle, so you either drive about an hour to the launch and pay the Lake Mead entrance fee at the gate, or add transport when you book. You will get wet, summer heat is punishing, wildlife sightings are never guaranteed, and the flat, motorless water makes this scenic rather than a thrill ride.
