Is the Ride-Along Off-Road Tour Worth It? When the Passenger Seat Beats Driving
This is the passenger-seat version of Vegas Off Road Tours' guided drives: the guide takes the wheel of a Polaris RZR and you strap into the seat beside or behind them for the same Mojave trails south of Las Vegas, without needing a license, nerve or a vehicle rental. The booking button sells the three-hour Mojave adventure for about $115 before fees, with a choice of front or rear seat; the operator also lists an 80-minute mini ride-along at $74.99 and longer versions that add the Goodsprings General Store and lunch at the Pioneer Saloon, at $184.99 and $224.99. Riders get a radio-equipped full-face helmet, water, a light snack and the trail photos; the Pioneer options include the meal.
Everything starts at the base camp in Jean, 21016 S Las Vegas Blvd, about 30 minutes south of the Strip, with free parking. The Strip shuttle is not part of the ride-along tickets, and a return shuttle can be added for a fee, so plan a car or a rideshare. Check-in takes 20 to 30 minutes. Riders must be at least 12 and about 54 inches tall, with a parent or guardian's ID for minors; the usual rules about sitting back-flat with feet on the floor and hands on the bar apply, and nobody rides after drinking.
The honest trade-off is control. A guide who drives these trails daily will go faster and harder through the whoops and climbs than a first-time renter, which is the thrill for some riders and too much for others; the rear seat of a four-seater is the rougher ride. The Mojave in a RZR is dusty, hot from May to September and cold on winter mornings, and three hours is a long time to be a passenger. Anyone who would rather drive should look at the Mini Off-Road Adventure, where the price buys the whole vehicle.
Insider tipTake the front seat if it is offered: the view, the grab bar and the suspension are all better than the rear bench of a four-seater, and a guide will usually adjust the pace if you say early on that you want scenery rather than speed.Check Availability & Prices →
