Vegas Mini Baja Chase Dune Buggy Adventure

SunBuggy's Vegas Mini Baja Chase puts visitors behind the wheel of a roll-caged dune buggy for a guide-led chase across the open desert northeast of the Strip. Unlike a guided side-by-side ride, drivers steer their own single-, two-, or four-seat racer and try to keep pace with a lead guide through the terrain. A free shuttle collects riders from anywhere in Las Vegas and runs them out to SunBuggy's base at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 15 miles up I-15 and about a 15- to 20-minute ride from the Strip. A safety briefing, a full-face off-road helmet, goggles, a welded double-loop steel roll cage and a 4-point harness come standard. From there the caravan chases the guide across gravel, washed-out creek beds, and sand dunes for a 30-minute, one-hour or two-hour driving session, with views of the Strip from the ridge tops. Unlimited bottled water is included, and the buggies seat solo drivers or families of up to four.

The trade-offs are real: the desert is dusty, hot from late spring through summer, and the ride is genuinely rough on the body. The actual driving is short at the entry length, since most of the roughly three-and-a-half-hour window is shuttle time and orientation, and the per-person price is steep for the minutes behind the wheel. Drivers need to be 16 with a valid license, or 15 with a learner's permit and a parent riding along, so the youngest of a family group will still be passengers.
