Sunset Stampede

Sunset Stampede is a free laser, light and dancing-water show inside Mystic Falls Park, the 25,000-square-foot glass-roofed atrium at Sam's Town on Boulder Highway. Signage and listings at the property now call it the Mystic Falls Park Laser Light Show; it's the same show under a newer name, and the LVCVA still lists it as the Sunset Stampede. Animatronic wolves, bears and eagles wake up around a multi-story waterfall while fountains and lasers run a short set under the skylight. It has been a locals' favorite for decades, admission is free, and there's nothing to book: show up a few minutes before a scheduled start.

Honest framing: this is charming, dated kitsch, closer to a 1990s theme-park lobby than a modern Strip production, and it sits about 7 miles east of the Strip, so it needs a car or rideshare. Show times are fixed at 6, 8 and 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with a 4 p.m. show added Friday through Sunday and nothing during the day midweek. That makes it a poor spontaneous stop but an easy add-on to a Sam's Town evening: the Ram's Head Bar overlooks the park, and the casino's bowling alley and movie theater fill out the trip. The holiday Winter Wonderland version, hourly through the evening from late November to New Year's Day, is when a special trip actually makes sense. Sam's Town announces the season's exact dates each fall, and as of early September 2026 the coming run hadn't been posted.
