Things to Do

NFR Las Vegas 2026, the Rodeo Week Guide (December 3–12)

The 2026 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo runs ten straight nights, December 3–12, 2026, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus, every performance at 5:45 p.m. Most arena seats belong to season-ticket holders, and the 2026 mini packages sold out on their August 13 on-sale day. What's left to plan around: the $80 pass that gets you inside the building without a seat, Cowboy Christmas at the Convention Center, free and open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, the resort viewing parties that show the arena feed for nothing, the densest country-concert week of the Las Vegas year, and hotel rates that have historically doubled on the first weekend.

Ten performances, December 3 through 12, 2026, all at 5:45 p.m., at the Thomas & Mack Center on the UNLV campus east of the Strip. Arena seats are scarce and mostly sold. An $80 pass gets you inside the building without one, Cowboy Christmas is free, several resorts show every round on big screens at no charge, and the first rodeo weekend is the priciest weekend of any Las Vegas December.

Dates, venue and the 5:45 start

Round one is Thursday, December 3, 2026. Round ten, the night the world titles are decided, is Saturday, December 12. All ten start at 5:45 p.m. and run past 8, early by Las Vegas standards, which reshapes the whole evening: dinner is late, concerts that start at 8 collide with the last events, and the late showrooms downtown are timed for the rodeo crowd. The top 15 money-earners in each of seven events qualify: bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Las Vegas Events and the PRCA have the rodeo signed here through 2035 on a deal worth more than $264 million to contestants and stock contractors, with $1 million added to the payout every year of the run. Thomas & Mack is a university arena, not a Strip venue, which is why free NFR Express shuttles run between it and the partner resorts every night of the rodeo.

How NFR tickets actually work in 2026

Season tickets are renewed every spring, invoiced in mid-March and due in May, and they account for most of the arena. What reaches the public is the leftover. Mini packages, either the first four performances or the last six, went on sale Thursday, August 13, 2026 at noon Pacific and sold out. Single-performance seats are released only from whatever inventory those packages leave behind, and the rodeo's own ticket FAQ warns that reserved seating for individual sessions may be extremely limited or unavailable.

The official 2026 face-value list, which the rodeo quotes with Nevada's live entertainment tax included, tells you what a seat costs at the box office: a balcony single is $130.50. The four-day balcony pack is $522, the six-day pack $783. The other option is the NFR Access ONLY ticket at $80, on sale since August 20, 2026. It gets you into Thomas & Mack on rodeo night with no seat: you watch on the screens in the Cowboy Corral, the Cowboy+ Bar and the Bull 'N Barrel Saloon, with live music and bars around you. It is non-refundable.

Bag policy is strict: one clear bag no larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches, or a gallon zip-top, plus a small clutch up to 8 by 11 inches. An official NFR merchandise bag up to 20 by 20 inches also passes. Children three and younger sit free on a lap. Anyone older needs a ticket.

Cowboy Christmas at the Las Vegas Convention Center

Boots by the thousand, hat shapers, custom saddles, turquoise by the case, and a Santa posing for photos from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cowboy Christmas is the rodeo's official gift show, open December 3–12, 2026, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily in the South Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, 3150 Paradise Road. Admission is free. The floor runs past 500,000 square feet with 375-plus exhibitors, so budget a half-day. The Ariat Rodeo Live Stage keeps a fixed daily program: an acoustic hour at 10, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's conservation hour at 11, "Mic Drop" hosted by Matt Merritt at noon, the Storme Sessions at 1 and a variety show at 2. The Junior NFR holds its own championship at the Convention Center across the same ten days, and unlike the gift show it charges at the door.

The show closes at 4 and the rodeo starts at 5:45, so the crowd moves in one wave: shop in the morning, eat on the floor, then head to the arena. Westgate, next door to the Convention Center, advertises Vegas Loop access to the halls.

Free viewing parties, same feed, no ticket

An $80 Access pass buys you a TV screen inside Thomas & Mack. Several resorts show the same in-arena broadcast for free, most with live music around it. Confirmed on the properties' own pages for 2026:

  • South Point: the viewing party runs 5 to 10 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom, free and open to the public, and go-round buckle presentations follow in the Showroom with Flint Rasmussen and Joe Beaver. Free live music plays the Showroom and Grandview Lounge from 5:45 to 8:15 p.m., 21 and up.
  • Rio: free nightly viewing parties hosted by Matt Merritt, all ages, with live country sets before the broadcast. Free shuttle to the arena.
  • Westgate: free NFR live-feed viewing parties and free entertainment daily in the International Bar and the Cabaret Theater, plus a free shuttle to and from the rodeo.
  • The Orleans: Boyd's rodeo viewing party in the Bourbon Street Lounge, free admission.

Silverton (Veil Pavilion), Sam's Town, MGM Grand's Gold Buckle Zone and Gilley's Saloon at Treasure Island have all run free parties in recent seasons, and their 2026 hours post closer to the rodeo. Times, covers and age rules shift year to year at every one of these, so check the property's own page in the week before you go rather than trusting a list written in the fall.

Country concerts during rodeo week

Dierks Bentley
Dierks Bentley

Rodeo week is the densest country-music week on the Las Vegas calendar, and the 2026 bookings confirmed so far cluster on the two rodeo weekends.

  • Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5: Dierks Bentley plays two nights at Fontainebleau.
  • Saturday, December 5: Rascal Flatts at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, 8 p.m., a one-off booked specifically into rodeo week.
  • December 4, 5, 11 and 12: the Eagles at Sphere, 8:30 p.m., their long-running residency landing on both rodeo weekends.
  • Sunday, December 6 and Thursday, December 10: Riley Green brings the Cowboy As It Gets Tour to Resorts World Theatre.
  • Thursday, December 10 and Saturday, December 12: Thomas Rhett at The Colosseum, 8 p.m. both nights, a 90-minute set with no opener listed, from $106 including fees as of August 22, 2026.
  • Friday, December 11: Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean's Double Down Tour at Allegiant Stadium, a 4 p.m. start with Jon Pardi and three more guests, upper deck from about $89 before fees.

The rodeo's own clock is the constraint. An 8 p.m. curtain means skipping the last events in the arena or the first songs at the venue, and only the late downtown showrooms and the resort after-parties are built to follow round ten. The Golden Nugget programs its Showroom around rodeo week and posts that lineup on its own WNFR page, and the rodeo keeps a running "Entertainment Around Town" list through the fall. The rest of the week, non-country headliners included, is on our concert calendar.

What rodeo week does to hotel prices

$399.65 a night. That was the average the Review-Journal found in December 2023, surveying 84 Southern Nevada hotels for the first NFR weekend, against a December 2022 average of $176.71. The second rodeo weekend that year came in just under $270, and the same survey caught Bellagio at $1,974 for opening weekend. Opening weekend is the peak, midweek softens, the second weekend is cheaper, and the stretch after the rodeo, roughly December 13–23, is the cheapest of the whole Las Vegas year, covered in our Christmas in Las Vegas 2026 guide. 2026 adds a multiplier: the Eagles' Sphere dates land on both rodeo weekends, and the Raiders host the Chargers at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, so checkout Sunday stays firm too.

Where you sleep should follow what you're here for. Rodeo-first visitors do best within reach of the arena or at a shuttle-stop hotel, because the rideshare queue once the arena empties is slow. Embassy Suites by Hilton Las Vegas on Swenson Street sits directly across from the UNLV campus, close enough to walk to the arena: all suites, non-gaming, zero resort fee, free cooked-to-order breakfast, paid parking, listed from $107 in our catalog. Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on Paradise Road is a short ride from Thomas & Mack and runs its own theater bookings that week. Off-Strip, South Point, Silverton, The Orleans, Sam's Town, Rio and Westgate all host free viewing parties, which puts you at the party without a cab ride at either end. Anyone coming for the concerts should stay near the venue they're booked for and accept the rate.

If you're in town and not here for the rodeo

Boots and buckles turn up at baggage claim, and country playlists follow you across every casino floor. Unlike Formula 1 in November, the Strip stays open: the rodeo lives on a university campus, and what reaches the tourist corridor is crowds and prices. Rooms cost roughly double on the first weekend. Restaurants hit their rush between 8:30 and 10 p.m., when the arena empties. Sphere and Allegiant Stadium each add their own crowd on top.

In your favor, the holiday displays along the Strip are already up, the free parties welcome anyone in any footwear, and Cowboy Christmas is a good day out even if you have never watched a rodeo. If your dates are flexible, arrive on or after December 13, when the decorations are still up and the rates have dropped.

Getting to Thomas & Mack

The NFR Express is a free shuttle between the arena and official partner hotels. Rio and Westgate both advertise it on their own 2026 pages, and South Point, The Orleans and Sam's Town have been on the network in recent seasons. Routes and the timetable post closer to the rodeo, so check them before you commit to a late dinner. The rideshare queue at the arena is slow once the building empties; walking a few blocks out first usually beats it.
