What opens and closes on the Las Vegas Strip this fall

Three Strip shows end their runs between now and mid-October, one changes address in the middle of September, and four titles arrive in time for a fall trip. Here is the whole shuffle in the order it happens, with the dates that actually constrain a booking.

Closing

Mad Apple plays its final performance on Saturday, September 5 at New York-New York, ending a run that began in May 2022. Awakening at Wynn follows on October 10; the resort announced the closure on August 21 and says a new production takes the theater in 2027. Both are still selling every remaining date.

A third closure already happened quietly. Menopause The Musical gave its last Las Vegas performance on June 27 after 21 years, and what was billed as a five-week hiatus was only confirmed as permanent on August 4. The touring production is still running, so the title on a marquee in another city is not a mistake.

Moving

MJ Live leaves Harrah's Showroom after September 9 and reopens on September 21 at the Saxe Theater in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood, Monday through Saturday at 7 p.m. Nothing plays in the eleven days between, and any ticket dated September 21 or later is for the new room rather than Harrah's.

Opening

Tony n' Tina's Wedding is already back, since August 20, in a remodeled showroom at the Rio, from $81 including fees. Now You See Me Live opens October 15 at the MGM Grand Theater with an announced run through January 5, 2027, from $77 including fees.

November brings two short ones. The Book of Mormon plays The Venetian Theatre from November 4 to 15 and then leaves, from $73. Tim McGraw takes The Colosseum for five nights: October 23 and 24, then November 4, 6 and 7, from $81 including fees on most dates.

Our take: Buy Awakening and Mad Apple now if you want them at all, because a closing date is a hard wall and the cheapest tiers empty first. The arrivals can mostly wait, with one exception: The Book of Mormon has 15 performances and no return dates, so a sold-out night is a night you miss.
