Is Penn & Teller Worth It? Honest Review, Tickets & Seating Tips
Penn & Teller have headlined the Rio since 2001 - the longest-running headliner residency in Las Vegas - and the act still works because it refuses to pick a lane: they explain how tricks operate, then fool you anyway. Penn talks, Teller doesn't, and the evening runs on wit, libertarian needling and genuine sleight rather than smoke machines. It's magic for people who think they're too smart for magic shows.
The honest trade-offs: this is a talky, idea-driven 90 minutes - anyone expecting spectacle-per-minute will fidget - and the Rio sits about a mile off-Strip on West Flamingo, so budget a rideshare each way while the property works through its ongoing renovation. The theater is big; the close-up material rewards sitting nearer the stage than the mezzanine. Shows run at 8 PM, typically Thursday through Sunday with extra nights in holiday weeks, from about $58 including fees as of September 5, 2026. The duo tours between Vegas blocks, so the calendar has holes: no Rio shows September 7 through 30, 2026, or October 18 through November 5. Ages 5 and up - and yes, the famous post-show tradition survives: the duo comes out to the lobby to sign and pose for free, though the box office now also sells a separate paid VIP meet-and-greet if you want guaranteed time.
Insider tipStay after curtain: the free lobby signing usually beats the paid VIP add-on unless you need guaranteed one-on-one time - and book orchestra center, because the close-up routines die from the mezzanine.Check Tickets & Prices →
