Is Carrot Top Worth It? Honest Review, Tickets & Seating Tips

Carrot Top - Scott Thompson - has headlined Luxor's Atrium Showroom for over 25 years, which makes him one of the last old-school nightly comedy headliners left in town. The act is prop comedy at machine-gun pace: trunk after trunk of self-built visual gags, pop-culture riffs and self-deprecation about the hair, the tan and the career, compressed into 75 minutes with no dead air.

You already know if this is your show: prop comedy is the most polarizing genre in stand-up, and he leans into it rather than apologizing. The pace is relentless and loud, material gets noticeably edgier as the set goes on, and returning fans will recognize a chunk of the arsenal - the trunks evolve, the formula doesn't. Shows run at 8 PM roughly six nights a week (Sundays usually dark), from about $53, in an intimate room where every seat is close. Ages 16+, with anyone 18 or younger accompanied by an adult - bring photo ID.

Insider tipHis set drifts edgier as it goes - if you're bringing a 16-year-old on the ID cutoff, this matters less than the fact that the front rows get name-checked: sit mid-room for comfort, everything lands from there anyway.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is prop comedy - will I like it?

Sight gags built from physical objects - he pulls hundreds from trunks across the set, each a two-second visual punchline. It's the most love-it-or-leave-it genre in stand-up: fans of quick absurdist humor thrive, fans of long-form storytelling comedy should book a comedy club instead.

What are the age rules?

16 and up, and anyone 18 or younger needs an accompanying adult - photo ID gets checked. The material starts PG-13 and drifts R as the night goes on.

What time and which nights?

8 PM, roughly six nights a week with Sundays typically dark, plus a dark week about once a month (September 7-13, 2026 is one). He still plays more dates per year than nearly any headliner in town, so availability is rarely the problem.

Is there a bad seat in the Atrium Showroom?

Not really - it's an intimate room and the props read from everywhere. Front rows get referenced but this isn't a roast show; nobody's dragged on stage.

Where do I park at Luxor?

Self-parking runs about $20–25 a day, and one MGM parking payment covers in-and-out at every MGM property on the Strip for 24 hours - useful if you're pairing the show with dinner elsewhere.
