Is WOW – The Vegas Spectacular Worth It? Honest Review & Tips

WOW – The Vegas Spectacular is the Rio's acrobatic flagship: thirty-plus performers, from acrobats and dancers to a crossbow archer, working a stage wrapped in water walls, 3D projections and holograms. Three thousand performances since 2017 and back-to-back Best Acrobatic Show golds in 2024–25 say the formula holds, and 2.5 million people have now seen it. It's the most production-forward show in its price band, nearly wordless and therefore language-proof.

Calibrate one expectation hard: “water show” means water effects. Think rain curtains, water walls used as projection surfaces and a 1,000-square-foot “liquid centerpiece” that gets performers splashing, not a Cirque-style aquatic stage with divers. Within that frame it delivers spectacle-per-dollar few rooms match: from $45 (as of September 2026) for a 90-minute run. Curtain is 7 PM Tuesday through Sunday and Monday is dark. Holiday weeks are the exception, with 5 PM matinees and a few 6 PM starts around Thanksgiving and Christmas, so check your date. The show's own FAQ calls it all-ages and recommends 3 and up, while the Rio's ticket listing posts 4+; haze and strobe run throughout either way. The Rio is off-Strip, which is half the reason the ticket stays this cheap; that means rideshare territory unless you drive, and self-parking is free.

Insider tipThe 7 PM curtain holds most nights, but holiday weeks shuffle it (5 PM matinees and some 6 PM starts around Thanksgiving and Christmas), so read the start time on your date. Drive if you can: Rio self-parking is free, and a 90-minute show at 7 has you out by 8:30 with the evening ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Is it a real water show?

Water effects, not an aquatic stage: rain curtains, water walls doubling as projection screens and a 1,000-square-foot liquid centerpiece for the splash moments. It holds up as tech-acrobatics; go in expecting “O” and you'll be let down.

What's the schedule?

7 PM Tuesday through Sunday, Monday dark as a rule, with dates on sale months ahead. Holiday weeks break the pattern: around Thanksgiving and Christmas the box office adds 5 PM matinees, moves a few curtains to 6 PM and opens the odd Monday, so check the start time for your date. The show runs 90 minutes.

Is it kid-friendly?

Officially all ages and recommended from 3 on the show's own FAQ, while the Rio's ticket listing posts 4+; treat 4 as the comfortable floor. The near-wordless format holds young attention well. Heads-up for sensitive kids: haze, strobe and loud hits run throughout.

Why is it so much cheaper than similar shows?

Rio economics: the off-Strip address discounts everything inside it. From $45 for production values that would price at $90+ in a center-Strip room; self-parking is free, so the real surcharge is the rideshare if you're not driving.
