Is Mandalay Bay Worth It? Honest Review, Rooms & Rates

Mandalay Bay brings genuine resort energy to the south end of the Strip, and its centrepiece is the 11-acre Mandalay Bay Beach — a sand-bottom complex with a wave pool, lazy river and even a small casino, the kind of pool scene you won't find at most Strip hotels. The Shark Reef Aquarium and a strong dining line-up round it out.

Rooms are upscale and spacious, and the property doubles as a major events and convention hub. The main trade-off is distance: it's at the far south end, so getting to the central Strip means the free tram or a rideshare. Rates start around $48 a night before fees.

Insider tipThe beach and wave pool are the star attraction — pack for the pool, and note it's a long (but tram-connected) stretch from the central Strip.
