Cirque du Soleil closes Mad Apple at New York-New York on September 5

Cirque du Soleil is closing Mad Apple at New York-New York on September 5, 2026. The company announced it on August 15, four years and more than 1.2 million guests after the show opened in May 2022. That makes it the shortest run of any Cirque resident production on the Strip.

Mad Apple never behaved like the rest of the Cirque lineup. It put a working bar on stage, hired stand-up comics between the acrobatic acts, and gated itself at 18+ because of the language. At $49 with fees it was also the cheapest way into a Cirque theater in Las Vegas, which is exactly why it worked for anyone who wanted a night out rather than a wordless dreamworld.

Tickets for the remaining performances are still on sale. Anyone already holding seats for a date after September 5 will be contacted by their point of purchase about a refund or an exchange, so check the email tied to your booking rather than waiting for the box office to call. Cirque says it is working on redeployment for the cast and crew across its other productions.

Four Cirque shows stay in town after this: Mystère at Treasure Island, "O" at Bellagio, KÀ at MGM Grand and Michael Jackson ONE at Mandalay Bay. New York-New York has not said what replaces Mad Apple in the theater.

Our take: if the party-first format was your reason to book, go in the next two weeks and take the 7 p.m. show, arriving by 6:30 for the stage bar. If you were choosing between Mad Apple and a classic Cirque title, the decision just made itself, and $49 seats are about to become a Vegas trivia answer rather than a bargain.
