The Doberman Drawing Room

The Doberman Drawing Room is the Arts District playing at secret society: buzz the paw-shaped doorbell on South 1st Street and you're let into a surrealist maze — Library, Blue Room, Great Hall, Attic — dressed in antiques, vintage books, taxidermy, and art that rewards a second look. It's a Corner Bar Management concept (opened April 2025), styled as a 'social club' but open to anyone: members get perks like the private loft, not the door.

The bar program is the substance behind the set dressing — run by Juyoung Kang, formerly of Delilah, with builds like the Howling Wolves (Japanese whisky, sherry, cantaloupe) and the creamy Melon Milkis earning the trip on their own. Happy hour lands Monday-Thursday 5-8pm with six cocktails at $15; charcuterie arrives in a hollowed-out book, and the kettle chips come with onion dip and caviar.

House physics: photography is banned inside (this is not the Instagram stop — deliberately), reservations via SevenRooms are strongly advised, dress runs 'neat, not sporty' (no flip-flops, athletic wear, or snapbacks), and despite the name, this is an indoor taxidermy den — don't bring the actual dog. Opens 5pm daily, runs to 2am.
