Hard Shake

Hard Shake is the Waldorf Astoria's Japanese-technique cocktail lounge on the 23rd-floor Sky Lobby - not the ground floor - opened in spring 2025 as part of the floor's Rockwell Group transformation alongside sibling bar Peacock Alley. The name is the method: Kazuo Uyeda's 'hard shake,' the precise, aeration-obsessed Japanese shaking technique, performed against floor-to-ceiling Strip views in a dark obsidian-and-gold room.

The list runs $24-28 with builds that justify the theater: the Katana on Hibiki Harmony with house-spiced Drambuie, the Golden Hour at $26 with Veuve Clicquot, and the two-person Dragons Treasure at $50. Food is Peacock Alley's elevated register - tuna cigars, caviar tater tots at $48, truffled fries - and the whole floor is non-gaming and smoke-free, which changes the texture of the evening entirely.

The operating pattern matters: dark Monday-Tuesday, 6pm to midnight Wednesday-Thursday and Sunday, 2am Friday-Saturday, with 90-minute table caps and the window seats effectively reservation-only (SevenRooms). This is a dress-up, go-on-purpose room - no casino walk-by traffic exists 23 floors up - and at sunset it makes the case for being the Strip's best new cocktail hour.
