Fireside Lounge (Peppermill)

Fireside Lounge (Peppermill)

The Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill is Vegas's iconic retro lounge - a sunken fire pit in a reflecting pool, mirrored ceilings, 64oz flaming Scorpion bowls, and a 2024 James Beard America's Classics award. 24h Thu-Sun.

Is the Fireside Lounge Worth It? Honest Review

The Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill is the most romantic time machine in Las Vegas: a sunken circular fire pit burning out of a reflecting pool, mirrored ceilings, royal-blue tufted booths, and Tiffany-style flamingo lamps, all unchanged in spirit since 1972. James Beard made it official in 2024 with an America's Classics award; every location scout in Hollywood made it official decades earlier.

It shares hours with the attached 24-hour diner - truly around-the-clock Thursday through Sunday, 7am to 2am Monday-Wednesday - and the split matters: the Lounge side is 21-plus and permits smoking, while the restaurant side is all-ages and smoke-free, so families sit out front. The order is non-negotiable: the 64-ounce Scorpion, a flaming rum-and-fruit sharing bowl built for two to four. Happy hours stack generously - daily 3-6pm, a reverse window late nights, and a locals' daytime deal Tuesday-Thursday with Nevada ID.

Honest notes: cocktail prices aren't printed (the Scorpion bill surprises the unprepared - ask when ordering), the iconic fire-pit booths run waits at peak, and the room is dark enough that menus require faith. None of that has dented five decades of first dates. It's a free-standing north-Strip stop near the convention center - no casino attached, which is half the charm.

Insider tip Ask specifically to be seated 'in the lounge' - the host will otherwise route you to the diner side, and the fire-pit booths are the entire point. The Scorpion's price isn't printed, so ask when ordering; one bowl genuinely covers a table.

Frequently asked questions

Is it open 24 hours?

Thursday through Sunday, yes - genuinely around the clock. Monday-Wednesday it runs 7am to 2am with last seating about 1:15am. The attached Peppermill diner keeps the same hours.

Can I bring kids?

To the restaurant side, yes - it's all-ages and smoke-free with the famous giant portions. The Fireside Lounge itself is 21+ and permits smoking; the two share a building but not a room.

What is the Scorpion?

The house legend: a 64-ounce rum-and-fruit-punch sharing bowl with grenadine, served flaming, built for two to four people. Prices aren't printed on the menu - confirm when ordering to skip the surprise.

What are the happy hours?

Three stacked windows: daily 3-6pm (wells, select beers, house wine, half-off select appetizers), a late-night reverse happy hour (Mon-Thu 11pm-2am, Fri-Sun midnight-3am), and a locals' Tuesday-Thursday daytime deal in the lounge with Nevada ID.

Where is it?

2985 S Las Vegas Blvd on the north Strip near the convention center - a free-standing building, no casino attached. It's a short ride from Wynn/Resorts World; parking is its own lot, free.
