The Fireside Lounge at the Peppermill is the most romantic time machine in Las Vegas: a sunken circular fire pit burning out of a reflecting pool, mirrored ceilings, royal-blue tufted booths, and Tiffany-style flamingo lamps, all unchanged in spirit since 1972. James Beard made it official in 2024 with an America's Classics award; every location scout in Hollywood made it official decades earlier.

It shares hours with the attached 24-hour diner - truly around-the-clock Thursday through Sunday, 7am to 2am Monday-Wednesday - and the split matters: the Lounge side is 21-plus and permits smoking, while the restaurant side is all-ages and smoke-free, so families sit out front. The order is non-negotiable: the 64-ounce Scorpion, a flaming rum-and-fruit sharing bowl built for two to four. Happy hours stack generously - daily 3-6pm, a reverse window late nights, and a locals' daytime deal Tuesday-Thursday with Nevada ID.

Honest notes: cocktail prices aren't printed (the Scorpion bill surprises the unprepared - ask when ordering), the iconic fire-pit booths run waits at peak, and the room is dark enough that menus require faith. None of that has dented five decades of first dates. It's a free-standing north-Strip stop near the convention center - no casino attached, which is half the charm.
