Is Looper Worth It? Honest Review

Looper is AREA15's carousel bar — opened December 2025 in the district's Zone 2 expansion as a psychedelic carnival concept: a 40-foot shipping-container bar parked beside the all-ages Looper carousel ride, staffed by a menagerie of costumed creatures (the shark, the giraffe, the rhino, the lion) in full neon-steampunk dress. The bar side is 21-plus; the ride next door is ticketed separately and open to everyone.

The drinks lean playful and fluorescent: the Glow Trotter (vodka, lemonade, blue curaçao, popping candy), the bourbon-blackberry Rhino Razzle, and the chili-salt-rimmed Lucid Lion, with mocktails (Gilded Giraffe, Pegasus Pop) taking the concept seriously. The sleeper value is the food — toasted sandwiches at $10-16 (Havana Engine, Big Top Italiano, Tilt-A-Ham) and the Not Fried Chicken ice-cream dessert make it AREA15's most affordable refuel.

It's brand-new, so the track record is short and the carnival theme is a taste you either have or don't. District rules apply: free daytime entry, $15 after 8pm Friday-Saturday without a ticket or reservation, and the whole of AREA15 goes 21-plus after 10pm. Daily 11:30am-10pm, later on district event nights.

Insider tip Use it as the district's budget pit stop: a $12 sandwich and a creature cocktail beats every neighboring venue's tab, and the bar itself is free to approach by day. The carousel needs its own ticket — buy it only if the psychedelic ride genuinely calls you.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Looper?

Two things sharing a name in AREA15's Zone 2: a 21+ carnival-themed container bar and eatery, and the separate, ticketed, all-ages psychedelic carousel ride beside it. Drinking at the bar doesn't require a ride ticket, and vice versa.

When is it open?

Daily 11:30am to 10pm, stretching later on AREA15 event nights. The district itself is free by day; Friday-Saturday after 8pm carries a $15 entry (waived with attraction tickets or reservations), and all of AREA15 is 21+ after 10pm.

What should I order?

The Glow Trotter (popping candy included) or the chili-rimmed Lucid Lion from the creature list; the Gilded Giraffe mocktail holds its own. Food-wise, the $10-16 toasted sandwiches and the Not Fried Chicken dessert are the district's best value.

Is it kid-friendly?

The carousel ride is all-ages and the daytime district welcomes families; the bar itself is 21+. After 8pm on weekends (and 10pm every night) AREA15's age rules take over — plan family visits for daylight.
