For a first visit, the center Strip, around Bellagio, Caesars Palace and The Cosmopolitan. Most of what you came to see is a walk away, and walking is how you will get around.

  • Center Strip: the landmarks, the shows, the dining. Also the priciest stretch and home of the $55 resort fee tier.
  • South Strip (Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand): value and families. A free tram links the first three, and the airport is close.
  • North Strip (Wynn, Resorts World, Fontainebleau, The STRAT): the newest rooms and a calmer feel, a short ride to the center. The far north near The STRAT is a long walk from everything.
  • Downtown: the budget move and a different trip. Rooms averaged about $100 in January 2026 against $215 on the Strip, resort fees run $30 to $50, and Fremont Street is outside the door. The Strip is a 10 to 15 minute ride, every time.
  • Off-Strip (Summerlin, Henderson, airport-area chains): the lowest rates and often free parking, but plan on a car.

The map of all of this is in where to stay in Las Vegas, and the first-trip orientation in first time in Las Vegas.
