Where should you stay in Las Vegas: which part of the Strip, or downtown?
For a first visit, the center Strip, around Bellagio, Caesars Palace and The Cosmopolitan. Most of what you came to see is a walk away, and walking is how you will get around. 1 answer 6h

Which hotels are actually on the Strip (Rio, Westgate, Virgin, Palace Station)?
None of those four. Rio, Westgate, Virgin Hotels and Palace Station are all just off the Strip: close enough that the marketing blurs it, far enough that you notice every evening. 1 answer 6h

Is the resort fee taxed, and what is the hotel room tax in Las Vegas?
Taxed, at the same rate as the room: 13.38% on the Strip and 13% inside the Las Vegas city limits, where Downtown sits. The fee you see quoted is almost always the pre-tax figure. 1 answer 6h

What is a Las Vegas resort fee, and what does it cover?
A mandatory nightly charge the hotel adds on top of the room rate: $45 to $55 a night on the Strip in 2026, plus 13.38% tax. You pay it however you booked and whether or not you use anything it covers. 1 answer 6h

Aria or the Cosmopolitan: which is better, and are they next to each other?
They are next-door neighbors on the center Strip, both run by MGM Resorts. Pick Aria for a calm, high-tech room; pick The Cosmopolitan for a balcony, a view and a night out without leaving the building. 1 answer 6h

What happened to The Cromwell? Is it now the Vanderpump Hotel?
Same building, new name. Caesars closed The Cromwell for a redesign with Lisa Vanderpump and reopened it as The Vanderpump Hotel on May 29, 2026; the grand opening was June 11. 1 answer 6h

When do you pay the Las Vegas resort fee: at booking or at check-in?
At the hotel, almost always. The booking site takes the room rate or a deposit; the resort fee is collected by the property when you arrive. 1 answer 6h

How much is the resort fee at each Las Vegas hotel?
Most Strip hotels charge $45 to $55 a night before tax, Downtown hotels $30 to $50, and a handful charge nothing. These are the figures from our last check against the hotels' own booking screens in September 2026; hotels change them with little notice. 1 answer 6h
