Is Mac King Worth It? Honest Review & Tips

Mac King has done his afternoon comedy-magic show on the Strip for over two decades and roughly ten thousand performances (currently Tuesday through Saturday at 3 PM in Excalibur's Thunderland Showroom), and it remains the consensus answer to “best daytime show in Vegas.” The plaid suit, the Fig Newtons, the rope routine: it's handmade, genuinely funny close-up magic that plays to kids and wins over their skeptical parents harder.

Book it knowing three things. It's daytime-only: 3 PM, no evening option, dark Sunday–Monday. The room is a modest showroom, matching the ~$45 ticket rather than any spectacle ambitions. And on select dates a guest magician has covered the show (Derek Hughes billed several August 2026 dates). The substitute shows are solid, but if Mac himself is the point, check your date's billing before buying. About 70 minutes; ages 5+, under-18s with an adult.

Insider tipUse the 3 PM slot as the bridge of a family day - pool morning, Mac at 3, dinner at 5:30 - and glance at the date's billing first: on guest-magician days the show is still worth it, but you'll want to know before the lights go down.

Frequently asked questions

Does Mac King perform every show himself?

Almost always - but a guest magician has substituted on select dates (Derek Hughes covered stretches of August 2026). The covers are good shows in their own right; still, check the billing on your specific date if Mac is the reason you're going.

What time and which days?

3 PM, Tuesday through Saturday, dark Sunday and Monday - with 1 PM matinees added on December 26, 29 and 30, 2026. It's the anchor of a Vegas afternoon, not an evening plan.

Is it really good for adults, or just kids?

The trick of the show is that adults laugh harder - the corny-on-purpose humor runs on timing and misdirection that lands at every age. It's the rare family booking nobody merely tolerates.

How much are tickets?

Tickets start around $45 including fees (as of September 5, 2026). Older write-ups still quote figures near $30; nothing in that range exists today.
